  The CCV-TRAP closed cycle cryogenic cold trap can be used in combination with the laboratory's existing gas separation test equipment for the separation and analysis of adsorbed inert gases, including helium, neon, argon, krypton and xenon。Cryogenic cold traps help extract such gases from geological materials collected by volcanic hot springs to gain insight into Earth's planetary evolution。They are also used to adsorb various oxygen isotopes from meteorites and polar ice caps, as well as olivine from ocean islands。

Cold trap working principle:

When the inert mixed gas enters the low temperature cold trap, for example, the inert gas is composed of four gases, A, B, C, and D, of which the liquefaction point of A gas is 18K, the liquefaction point of B gas is 25K, the liquefaction point of C gas is 38K, and the liquefaction point of D gas is 46K。In order to realize the separation of the four gases, the low temperature trap begins to cool down to a temperature of about 10K, at which time the four gases are completely liquefied, and after liquefaction, the temperature of the system is controlled to increase the system temperature to 40K。At this time, the D gas still remains in the liquid state, and the three gases A, B and C once again become gas, and the mixed gas in the system is withdrawn, and only the D gas is left in the system。Once again increase the system temperature to about 50K or higher, let D gas gasify again, and pump away the gasified gas, that is, D gas is separated from the mixed gas。Repeating such steps, depending on the principle of different gas liquefaction points, the system achieves gas separation by controlling different temperatures。
